Retargeting pixels

Retargeting links that build audiences from every click

A retargeting link fires your advertising pixels when someone clicks a GoTinyURL short link or visits your bio page, even if the destination is someone else's website. Later you can show ads to those people. You add each pixel once and attach it to any link or bio page.

What is a retargeting link?

A retargeting link is a short link that loads advertising tracking pixels during the redirect. The click adds the visitor to an audience in your ad platform, so you can reach them with ads later, even when the link pointed to an article, a marketplace listing or a video you do not own.

How it works

How do you set up retargeting pixels in GoTinyURL?

Add your pixel, then Attach it to links, then Share as normal, then Retarget. Each step takes a few seconds in the dashboard at app.gotinyurl.com.

  1. Add your pixel

Paste the pixel ID from your ad platform once.

  2. Attach it to links

Pick which links and bio pages should fire it.

  3. Share as normal

The pixel fires during the redirect.

  4. Retarget

Build an audience in your ad platform from those visitors.

FAQ

Retargeting pixels: common questions

8 questions
Q01Which pixels can I add?

Facebook (Meta), Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter (X), Quora, TikTok and Snapchat, from the pixel list in the app.

Q02How many pixels can I use?

Free includes 3 pixels, Starter 10, Pro 25 and Business unlimited. Lifetime tiers range from 10 to unlimited.

Q03Can I retarget people who clicked a link to someone else's website?

Yes. That is the main point of a retargeting link: the pixel fires during the redirect, before the visitor reaches the destination, so it works for articles, marketplaces and videos you do not own.

Q04Do I need cookie consent for retargeting pixels?

In many places, yes. In the EU and UK, marketing pixels generally need the visitor's consent first, and some US states have similar rules. You are responsible for consent for your own pixels; a splash page can show your notice before the redirect.

Q05Does adding a pixel slow the redirect?

Slightly, because the browser has to load the pixel scripts before continuing. The delay is usually a fraction of a second; links without pixels redirect instantly.

Q06Can I add pixels to my bio page?

Yes. Attach pixels to a bio page and they fire when the page is viewed.

Q07What is the difference between a pixel and UTM tags?

UTM tags tell your analytics where a visit came from. A pixel tells your ad platform who visited, so you can show them ads later. Most campaigns use both.

Q08Will ad blockers stop the pixel?

Some will. Browsers and blockers increasingly limit third-party tracking, so treat retargeting audiences as a sample of your clickers rather than all of them.
